On March 12, Amazon Canada announced that since April 13, 2024, to ensure sufficient warehouse space, sellers who have not opted out of automated removal of aged inventory, will have some of their aged inventory removed.
Aged inventory is defined as products that have been stored in the distribution center for more than 365 days. Amazon says automatically removing aged inventory can help sellers save on inventory surcharges and improve inventory performance index scores.
To manage aging inventory, go to Automated fulfillable inventory settings:
If a seller wants to return inventory, please select "Return" and enter a valid return address; if a valid address is not provided, the inventory will be automatically donated, recycled, or removed;
If the seller refuses the automatic removal of aged inventory, please select "Disable".
According to the announcement, once the automatic removal is created, it cannot be canceled. Sellers who have overage inventory and have not updated their settings will be notified by email and in the Seller Center that automatic removal is about to take place.
